The museum is set in attractive park-like grounds at Tambankulu Sugar Estate, midway between Mhlume and Simunye. It is just three kilometres from the major tourist route between Kruger Park and the kwaZulu-Natal parks. It is well sign-posted and includes shaded parking and it has clean toilets, including facilities for people living with disabilities.
